$8 Million Award Grant for Alabama Gulf State Park Pier
Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today announced that the Department has awarded an $8 million grant to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for a conservation education initiative that will restore part of the historic Gulf State Park Pier."

Is the Park Dispute Over?
The job wasn't easy and the solution isn't perfect, but it now appears that Alabama will finally be able to replace the Gulf State Park lodge that was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The Legislature last week approved - and Gov. Bob Riley has signed - a bill that will enable the state to push ahead with a public-private partnership for the project. read more
